Day 2 in the books, day 3 about to start. All-in-all, a very good day. I was a “shopper” again today. Let me tell you, kids and small animals love me, really!
One of the cool things is to see evacuees who you had helped and they had come back themselves to volunteer later in the day and the next day. You also have the folks trying to get over on the system. Disasters do bring out the best in people and the worst as well. Fortunately the bad eggs are very few and far in between.
I found a place to stay inexpensively. Thanks to the magic of AirBnB! A single room with a shared bathroom 🚽 (washroom). Less expensive than a campsite. I’ll save the camping for another time.
Met some new friends. Relief workers from the Tzu Chi Buddhist Center in Vancouver BC. Great folks. Most of them immigrated from the Republic if China (Taiwan). They have been here giving out blankets and pillows. The blankets are amazing! Made from 100% recycled water/soda bottles. The texture is as smooth as a baby’s butt.
More later, time for work.
